Preventative Health Care

We believe that preventative health care is the number one tool to help keep your pet healthy and able to live a long active life. A thorough physical examination is recommended at least once a year for your pet as well as appropriate vaccinations, annual fecal parasitic testing and heartworm testing.

Medical Services: The Russell Animal Hospital P.A. has a long history of top shelf medical care provision for its patients. We are very well-equipped for advanced contemporary care and diagnostics and we are able to refer to Capital Area Veterinary Emergency Services for 24 hour critical/attended care by the individual case.

We maintain referral relationships with several highly regarded specialists in the fields of Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Behavior, Oncology and Dentistry for appropriate cases.

Surgical Services: Our doctors are able to offer a broad spectrum of routine and more specialized surgical procedures. We also have a well-established referral network to some of the most respected surgeons in the North East for less common, more technically demanding soft tissue and orthopedic surgery cases.

Cardiac/Abdominal Ultrasound Board Certified Consults: The New England Veterinary Specialists take pride in offering services and imaging technology (cardiac and abdominal) necessary to give state of the art advanced veterinary care to your pets at Russell Animal Hospital. Diagnostic imaging and consultation appointments can be made with Dr. Paul Kaplan, Diplomate ACVIM (cardiology) every Wednesday morning and with Dr. Josh Gidlewski, Diplomate ACVIM (cardiology) upon request by calling the Russell Animal Hospital at 603-224-2361 and speaking with our liaison. Dentistry: We provide routine annual dental examinations and should your pet require dental care we offer full dental cleanings with extractions on an as needed basis.

Pharmacy: We maintain a complete medical pharmacy for dispensing to our clients and we use local compounding pharmacies to compound medicine for your pet.

We also carry a full line of parasite control products including flea and tick products.

Resource for Behavior Training: Our staff is able to assist you with your questions about your pet’s behavior for example excessive barking, separation anxiety, house training etc. Referral to specially trained professional behaviorists are available for selected cases.

Nutritional Products: We carry the following high quality diets for felines and canines. Waltham, Purina, Eukanuba, Hills and IVD and a variety of nutritional supplementation.
